Studio Consultation and Integration:

With 25 years of studio expeience behind me, I'm not going to feel like it's bragging to say I probably know more about the subject of studios than the majority of people. I run in to musicians and "newbies" all the time that have questions about signal flow and compatibility between gear and patchbays and wiring and speakers and acoustics. They ask me how they can get their tracks to sound better through mic choice and technique. They ask about improving the quality of their mix. or why they're getting too much noise or distortion with a certain set-up. The main question is typically, "Have you heard the -- fill in the blank -- and if so, what to you think of it?" Very often the answer to that question is, yes, I've heard it, used it and here are its upsides and downsides. Beyond that, I can help you set up a whole studio from scratch; help you choose the best way to spend the budget. I can help you get the gear, put it all together and support you from then on. I might even help you avoid a rookie mistake or two. So if you're just starting out on a home-studio or upgrading to the next level, and you're dedicated to doing it right, call me on 617-763-7669.

Mix for Hire, aka "Mail Order Mixing"

NOW ON SALE FOR A LOW RATE, see here.
These days, the majority of recording projects are "DIY". Rare are the projects where you go to a $1200 per day studio for days or weeks to do your album. Like a lot of musicains who don't have a lot, if ANY recording experience in the engineer/producer role, you may find that doing it yourself didn't end up sounding as good as he latest Jon Mayer album.  As I like to say, the recording engineer diploma doesn't come in the box with the ProTools LE. Hey, you're a musician, not a recordist, but how hard can it be? (Would you work on a Mercedes motor without training? Would you fly a plane?)

But you got a good mic and you managed to make some decent tracks.

This is where I come in. Send me your digital tracks, and I will mix them, and I'll make it sound like a record. I'll even mix it to tape, if you like. I specialize in guitar-driven American rock, Alternative, Indie, Roots, Blues, Country, even Hard Rock. I have good plug-ins, good outboard gear, great monitors, and most importantly, experienced ears. 25 years experienced.
