Reader Complains About Rainbo Pressing

Hi Michael,

I have just received two copies (from different sellers in the U.S.)  of the new album by the Feelies Here Before on Bar None Records.

The quality is so poor. Side One on each LP has non fill/stitching  and is audible. I believe that this was pressed at Rainbo in Los  Angeles for the label. Along with Erika Records (the worst ever!!)  of Downey, CA., who pressed the last Jackson Browne LP, Rainbo must  be the second worst pressing facility around in my experience? How  can people who play vinyl accept such rubbish? Have you received a  copy of this LP? If so, what is your copy like? As for me, I will  not buy any more U.S. pressed vinyl unless it has been made at RTI  and I am going to stick to that. Very, very disappointing. I am in  Europe and there is nobody over here anywhere as bad as either of  these two plants. How do American vinyl buyers put up with this? I  will have to get the CD of this album. I have recently bought the  Ayre C5xeMP player. Kind Regards,

Gene Harrington

--I have passed your email on to Steve Sheldon, President of Rainbo Records. In fairness to Rainbo, I have found their records over the past year or two to generally be very well-pressed. However, it seems to me, visible "stitching" caused by "non-fill" should be caught with vigilant quality control.
