Please what is your preferred pressing for such an august occasion as this? Many thanks!

I'm no expert, but some will say the Japanese is the very best pressing. Some will argue that it's either the UK or US cut. And although Dougie Sax cut the original UK and US at The Mastering Lab, to my ears, the UK has edge.

The expression, "a vale has been lifted" applies here.

I have a TML UK pressing that sounds great. I was under the impression that the Japanese is also a Doug Sax cut. Can anyone confirm the TML stamp? CAS is providing the UK pressing so I'm sure it will be great. I forgot about the Marathon! I'm not coming across that bridge but I'll be sure to leave plenty of time...

Forgot to mention that I've had them all.

I told you Brooklyn rocks .

I would have loved to come but you do know the marathon is Sunday. I won't be able to get over the Verrazano Bridge from Staten Island

I own an absolutely mint copy of the Japanese variety and although I've only heard one other pressing to compare it to, I have to say that it is by far my favorite album in my collection (I think I'm up to about 600 or so at this point). To my ear, everything is right! The new remaster from a couple years ago doesn't even come close. In fact, you would have to be deaf not to hear the immediate difference on the very first note. The new-ish remaster has extremely laid back top end, to put it nicely. It's a shame because the best part of the album, in my opinion, is how jarring that into to "In The Flesh" is. It really sets the tone for the presentation. The recessed top end really takes away from this effect.

Have that laid back top end. I don't get it.

I can confirm that there are no TML stamps on any sides of the Japanese pressing. Definitely a unique mastering.

Wish I could go to this event. Wrong country, let alone wrong side of the bridge. Opened my sealed copy of the CBS 1/2 speed pressing last year. Had been hanging on for some moronic reason, as not like it was a second copy. I think it sounds fantastic, better than my domestic 1st Canadian pressing which is great too. I'm curious how Mike or anyone else feels about the 1/2 speed versions, if you're familiar with them. I understand that as a whole the CBS 1/2 speeds have been criticized by a lot of audiophiles in the past, but I don't recall any comments from this great site.

I completely agree that the CBS 1/2-Speed Mastered version of the Wall is the best sounding one I've heard. It has TML stamps in the deadwax. I've compared it to a first pressing U.S. and a German pressing (A0/B0 stampers) that was considered one of the best sounding versions on Steve Hoffman Music Forums. The CBS beat them all, though it was a very narrow margin vs. the German pressing. Some people don't like these CBS LPs in general, but this one is top notch.

Love to hear your thoughts on the new Pink Floyd album released today, The Endless River, mastered by Doug Sax and pressed on two 180-gm LPs by QRP. I hope re-recorded means analog, but it comes with a free digital download (from Columbia Records???)
