When it comes to the King of Rock & Roll, nothing is too EPiC (acronym-derived case sensitivity specifics very much intended) for director Baz Luhrmann to tackle. Relative to the theatrical premiere of Luhrmann’s latest visual ode the King, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert — which hits theaters with a one-week exclusive IMAX engagement on February 20, 2026, followed by a global theatrical release from NEON and Universal Pictures International a week later on February 27, 2026 — RCA/Legacy will be releasing a companion 2LP soundtrack on April 24, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s EPiC report to see if this hunk o’ double-Elvis vinyl-to-come belongs in your collection. . .

What becomes a cult-favorite legend most? In our seemingly endlessly perpetual multitasking modern world, sometimes it’s worth just taking a beat to slow everything down. Ambient music pioneer Brian Eno must have been reading our mind, because his latest multimedia collaboration with Dutch author/activist Bette A. may just be the literal aural elixir needed to fit that bill. The result of their multimedia mindmeld, 2 Slow Stories, is a two-sided, two-song companion to Bette A.’s collection of short stories dubbed (naturally) Slow Stories. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s report to see why Bette and Brian’s forthcoming, extremely limited-edition bundle fits that requisite slow-rolling bill. . .

When it comes to commenting on the music made by drumming powerhouse Cindy Blackman Santana, it is best to enhance the following most applicable statement with one final directive: Give the drummer some more. That revised phrase is backed up in full by the breadth and scope of the music to be found on her forthcoming new LP Coherence, which will be released on vinyl on July 31, 2026, via Mack Avenue. AP editor Mike Mettler has all the cohesive spiritual details. . .

To borrow a line from the late great Oscar Peterson, “We get requests.” What I mean by that is, we here at AP are constantly inundated with album review requests on a daily basis — and while we can’t cover them all (as much as we’d like to!), sometimes, that certain special LP makes it through to our tables and ears, reminding us why we do what we do. Case in point is NYC-based multi-instrumentalist Dawn Drake, who reached out to us via email to see if we would review Nightshade, a self-released LP credited to her full band, Dawn Drake & ZapOte. Read on to see why the worldbeat-meets-funk grooves of Nightshade are worth getting on your turntable ASAP. . .

Thankfully, Sense is being made once again — quite literally. What I mean by that is, the expanded soundtrack of Talking Heads’ seminal 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense will be re-released in a pair of 2LP editions by Sire/Rhino on July 26, 2024. So put me on a highway, and show me a sign. Call it a case of, shall we say, “capitol gains.” The capitol spelling there is quite deliberate, for it relates to the Washington, D.C., hometown locale of the notable ethereal goth-rock band Strange Boutique, who are finally back on the scene with their first new album in 31 years, Let the Lonely Heart Sing. The LP was released yesterday, June 10, 2025, in a pair of limited-edition color vinyl options by The Circle Music, a Greek label. Stalwart British progressive sophisticates Gentle Giant decided to build an entire album around exploring the concept of “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” — the result being their fifth studio album, In a Glass House, which was originally released in September 1973 via WWA. In recent years, the band has undertaken a fairly comprehensive, multiformat reissue campaign — and now it’s time for In a Glass House to get the catalog-revisit nod, as it will be released as a 180g LP on July 31, 2026, via Alucard. AP editor Mike Mettler smooths out all the details . . .
