Goose’s New Big Modern! 180g 2LP Set Will Be Previewed With Official Listening Parties Across the Country on June 10 and 11, Just Ahead of Its June 12 Release

What’s good for Goose is good for us to gander at — or something like that. Let me better clarify that stretch of a phrase. Goose, one of the more intriguing jam-centric bands of the moment who’ve already proven to have the goods to back up their considerable staying power, have just announced a new 180g 2LP set, BIG MODERN! (the all-caps style is their emphasis), will be released via their own No Coincidence label on June 12, 2026.

On the two days prior to that release date — i.e., June 10 and June 11, 2026 — official listening parties will take place at (their words now) “a specially curated network of vinyl bars, hi-fi lounges, and listening spaces” to play all of Big Modern! ahead of its official release on that ensuing Friday. You can go here to see if there’s a listening party happening near you, and then RSVP accordingly. I’ve already asked Ken Micallef, one of AP’s top vinyl progenitors who knows more than a thing or two about the hi-fi lounge scene, to attend one of these listening parties on our behalf, and he will share a full report with us not long after the event(s) take place.

To my ears, Goose really came into their own on their fourth studio release, April 2025’s Everything Must Go five-sided 3LP set, also released on No Coincidence — and my esteemed colleagues over at our sister site Stereophile clearly agree, as you can see here in their review of it from August 2025. (Goose’s other 2025 release, Chain Yer Dragon, is also pretty killer too.)

I’ve already heard Big Modern! in advance digitally, and the Music is in the 9 territory on our ratings scale, so I expect more good (or should that be, “even gooder”?) things when I get the full 2LP set in hand and in-ear. (My Sound rating, and possibly an upgraded Music rating, will follow after I spin all four sides of it more than a few times.)

If you want to get your own taste of the vibes for where Big Modern! is heading, you must first check out the official teaser that is simply titled “!” via the YouTube clip below, which quite fittingly stars Jake Lacy.

The background of this clip is pretty interesting, according to the official press materials. Emmy Award-nominated actor Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) accompanied Goose as they sat courtside at a recent New York Knicks / Chicago Bulls game at Madison Square Garden in New York City back in April 2026. There, Lacy sat between the four members of the band, each of whom wore bright yellow hoodies spelling out “FACE” — a key lyrical component of one of their top fan-favorite songs, “Big Modern!” — and those letter-laden hoodies can also be seen in the band photo at the very top of this story.

The teaser video, along with that NBA-at-MSG appearance, capped off two weeks’ worth of the band’s guerrilla marketing tactics in major U.S. cities featuring the words “BIG MODERN!” along with a companion BIGMODERN.com site displaying Morse code for “mysterious phrases” and interactive messaging based on Goose fans’ thoughts that were shared across social media, all of it leading up to the debut of the new album’s lead track, “Good2B.”

Speaking of “Good2B” (LP1, Side A, Track 2), you can check it out for yourself here, via the playback service of your choice. Ditto going here to check out another cool Big Modern! track, “Torero” (LP1, Side B, Track 3).

You can preorder Goose’s 180g 2LP Big Modern! set here via Music Direct for $39.99 — or via the MD link graphic below that appears just ahead of the tracklisting section.

Some more Big Modern! DNA data now, per the official press info. On this new 2LP set, Goose confront — in their words now — “the relentless stimuli and accelerated absurdity of our present-day culture by meeting it head-on with their own sprawling versatility and creative range.” (Testify!) Springing from Goose’s improvisational prowess, the album’s 15 tracks include heartland-rock piano ballads, accented orchestral jazz interludes, and high-octane synth rock as incorporated with their patented high-energy pop grooves, searing guitar riffs, genre-bending orchestration, driving distortion, and gorgeous choral harmonies. In other words: the jam band designation doesn’t really cover the scope of what they do, imo.

And with that grand statement, here’s the full list of the Big Modern! listening parties to comer. If you do wind up going to any of them, three quick words of advice — Goose it up!
