Well, it’s one for the money (pause), two for the show (pause) . . . and I bet you know the rest. Seeing how we’re fast approaching the 70th anniversary of the song those opening lines adorn — Carl Perkins’ perennial rockabilly classic, “Blue Suede Shoes” — the timing couldn’t be any better for an audiophile-centric reissue of this January 1956 single. To that end, Intervention Records have just announced that the first vinyl release in their new Intervention Sun Records Hi-Fi Series will be the album that “Blue Suede Shoes” ultimately landed on — 1957’s Dance Album of Carl Perkins — and it’s expected to ship in December 2025. Read on to see how the historically important AAA 180g 45rpm mono LP Dance Album reissue came to be. . .

It’s always refreshing to see young blood making a clear impact on the world of new vinyl — and this time, the artist doing so literally has the exact right name for the job. In this case, we’re talking about British punk-pop vocalist Yungblud, who recently collaborated with veteran American rock icons Aerosmith on One More Time, a tough ’n’ tender five-song EP that was released on November 21, 2025. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s review to see if the Aero-lads once again get back in the vinyl saddle where they belong. . .

Welcome to Part 2 of our annual, year-end Best LPs extravaganza! And now, read Part 2 to see what our Top 10 new LPs of the year are. . .

When it comes to the King of Rock & Roll, nothing is too EPiC (acronym-derived case sensitivity specifics very much intended) for director Baz Luhrmann to tackle. Relative to the theatrical premiere of Luhrmann’s latest visual ode the King, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert — which hits theaters with a one-week exclusive IMAX engagement on February 20, 2026, followed by a global theatrical release from NEON and Universal Pictures International a week later on February 27, 2026 — RCA/Legacy will be releasing a companion 2LP soundtrack on April 24, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s EPiC report to see if this hunk o’ double-Elvis vinyl-to-come belongs in your collection. . .

In our seemingly endlessly perpetual multitasking modern world, sometimes it’s worth just taking a beat to slow everything down. Ambient music pioneer Brian Eno must have been reading our mind, because his latest multimedia collaboration with Dutch author/activist Bette A. may just be the literal aural elixir needed to fit that bill. The result of their multimedia mindmeld, 2 Slow Stories, is a two-sided, two-song companion to Bette A.’s collection of short stories dubbed (naturally) Slow Stories. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s report to see why Bette and Brian’s forthcoming, extremely limited-edition bundle fits that requisite slow-rolling bill. . .

For a British band with such a potentially foreboding name as The Darkness, their music is anything but grim. Instead, they choose to celebrate what we call a “tongue in chic” (spelling intended) wink/nudge approach to rock conventionalism by meeting all of it head on with layered riffs, clever arrangements, and operatic vocals galore — and their latest smokin’ hot LP, Dreams on Toast, is the living analog proof. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s interview with Darkness guitarist/producer Dan Hawkins to see what he doesn’t want to hear on test pressings, why “flow” is critical to vinyl sequencing, and what albums he and his older brother, Darkness lead singer Justin Hawkins, bought and shared together when they were growing up. . .

Let’s face the music and dance, shall we? And what I mean by that is a new, and quite big, David Bowie box set is a-coming. It’s titled (number included!) 6. I Can’t Give Everything Away (2002 – 2016), and it will be released in a massive 180g 18LP collection via Parlophone on September 12, 2025. Read on to see which key twilight-era Bowie albums are on it, in addition to what comprises its formidable amount of previously unreleased-on-vinyl contents. . .

To borrow a line from the late great Oscar Peterson, “We get requests.” What I mean by that is, we here at AP are constantly inundated with album review requests on a daily basis — and while we can’t cover them all (as much as we’d like to!), sometimes, that certain special LP makes it through to our tables and ears, reminding us why we do what we do. Case in point is NYC-based multi-instrumentalist Dawn Drake, who reached out to us via email to see if we would review Nightshade, a self-released LP credited to her full band, Dawn Drake & ZapOte. Read on to see why the worldbeat-meets-funk grooves of Nightshade are worth getting on your turntable ASAP. . .

So put me on a highway, and show me a sign. If you know your Eagles music, then you know that’s a key line from the quintessential California band’s “Take It to the Limit,” one of the hit singles from June 1975’s chart-topping One of These Nights LP. Well, the sign is this: Rhino has just announced that One of These Nights (Deluxe Edition) will be released as a 3LP set on May 1, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s preview to see what additional material fills out this must-have collection. . .

It’s a hunka hunka heap of great burning Elvis tracks a-coming on wax! Or, to be more specific, RCA/Legacy is set to release Elvis Presley’s Sunset Boulevard as a 2LP set on August 1, 2025, a collection that will feature a number of rarities that’s also intended to put a spotlight on Elvis’ oft-overlooked 1970s recorded output. Read on to see all that comprises Sunset Boulevard on vinyl. . .

Call it a case of, shall we say, “capitol gains.” The capitol spelling there is quite deliberate, for it relates to the Washington, D.C., hometown locale of the notable ethereal goth-rock band Strange Boutique, who are finally back on the scene with their first new album in 31 years, Let the Lonely Heart Sing. The LP was released yesterday, June 10, 2025, in a pair of limited-edition color vinyl options by The Circle Music, a Greek label. Read on to see why you should procure either/both versions of Strange Boutique’s stunning new LP ASAP. . .

After a long absence, the Muffin Men have finally returned to their respective seats at the table. What I mean by that is thus: The first Frank Zappa-related release of 2026 shines a spotlight on Bongo Fury, the historical October 1975 collaboration between lifelong friends Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart, with The Mothers also along for the ride. A newly expanded 50th anniversary edition of Bongo Fury will be released by Zappa Records/UMe in a variety of formats, including 2LP and 1LP sets, on March 20, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s report to see just how Bongo Fury has been upgraded and expanded. . .

Stalwart British progressive sophisticates Gentle Giant decided to build an entire album around exploring the concept of “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” — the result being their fifth studio album, In a Glass House, which was originally released in September 1973 via WWA. In recent years, the band has undertaken a fairly comprehensive, multiformat reissue campaign — and now it’s time for In a Glass House to get the catalog-revisit nod, as it will be released as a 180g LP on July 31, 2026, via Alucard. AP editor Mike Mettler smooths out all the details . . .

UK alt-pop stalwarts Squeeze have never quite followed the rules of disengagement, so when they unearthed a 52-year-old demo tape from 1974 featuring a nightclub-oriented song cycle penned by the band’s then-teenage songwriting duo — Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook — they actually found something worth salvaging. The 13 songs retrieved from the vaults were all given new life, and they now comprise the band’s just-released 16th studio album Trixies. AP editor Mike Mettler reviews one of the color variants, plus he talks with guitarist/vocalist Glenn Tilbrook about why he’s always loved vinyl, the art of sequencing, and how two of Squeeze’s most classic songs came together. . .
