We be jammin’ now — 50 years on, that is. Fifty years ago this week, Bob Marley & The Wailers headlined a four-night residency at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, England, spanning June 15-18, 1976. The first-ever official release of 18 of the best tracks culled from those shows comprise the Roots, Rock, Reggae: Live at the Hammersmith Odeon 180g 2LP set that’s coming from Tuff Gong/Island/UMe on August 14, 2026. AP editor Mike Mettler sparks, er, shares all the details. . .

Stalwart British progressive sophisticates Gentle Giant decided to build an entire album around exploring the concept of “those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” — the result being their fifth studio album, In a Glass House, which was originally released in September 1973 via WWA. In recent years, the band has undertaken a fairly comprehensive, multiformat reissue campaign — and now it’s time for In a Glass House to get the catalog-revisit nod, as it will be released as a 180g LP on July 31, 2026, via Alucard. AP editor Mike Mettler smooths out all the details . . .

On any particular night, King Crimson founder/guitar iconoclast Robert Fripp’s penchant for playing music always leaned toward quote, “new whenever it is performed.” That M.O. was most definitely in place for the seven-man band’s four-night run at what was then called the Best Buy Theater in the heart of midtown Manhattan between September 18-21, 2014. A most aptly named 200g 2LP set on black vinyl, 2014 NYC (coming out on July 10, 2026), celebrates some of the best performances of that storied run. AP editor Mike Mettler — our resident KC fanatic who attended three of those four shows — shares all the details. . .

I’m sure most of us can recall the first time we heard the golden throat of Rochester, New York’s finest, Lou Gramm, sing a song that has now long since embedded into our collective consciousness — and it most likely came from his time as the frontman for Foreigner. AP editor Mike Mettler talks with Gramm about his newly released solo album Released, the art and science of sequencing album sides, and which Foreigner song he feels sounds best on vinyl, and why. . .

By almost all accounts, Record Store Day 2026, which took place last Saturday, April 18, 2026, was a rousing success. We here at AP were, of course, out in full force that day, and we can now report back on what we were able to get our hands on in the moment and what we think of them. (Some of our thoughts may surprise you.) We’ll also discuss what we didn’t get, and/or what we’re still looking to get our hands (and ears) on. Read on to see AP editor Mike Mettler and chief LP reviewer Mark Smotroff’s mutual RSD 2026 assessments. . .

Let’s not beat around the bush: Queen are absolute kings when it comes to putting together historical box sets. Current case in point is what they’ve done for March 1974’s Queen II, which was just released by Hollywood in a legitimately lavish 5CD/2LP Collector’s Edition on March 27, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s review to see why the 180g 2LP twist helps put Queen II over the top. . .

Rush’s tenth studio LP on Mercury, April 1984’s Grace Under Pressure, chronicled how the vaunted Canadian trio were able to shift creative gears mid-decade and construct eight technology-driven tracks that confront fear, rue containment, and question conformity. To properly celebrate this important album, UMe/Mercury and Anthem recently released a newly expanded 5LP/1BD Super Deluxe Edition of Grace Under Pressure (a.k.a. GUP40) on March 13, 2026. Read AP editor Mike Mettler’s in-depth box set review that also includes an all-new exclusive interview with longtime Rush production wizard Terry Brown — who remixed the original album and the live material exclusively for this box set — to see why his work may forever change the way you hear this Cold War-era music. . .

UK alt-pop stalwarts Squeeze have never quite followed the rules of disengagement, so when they unearthed a 52-year-old demo tape from 1974 featuring a nightclub-oriented song cycle penned by the band’s then-teenage songwriting duo — Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook — they actually found something worth salvaging. The 13 songs retrieved from the vaults were all given new life, and they now comprise the band’s just-released 16th studio album Trixies. AP editor Mike Mettler reviews one of the color variants, plus he talks with guitarist/vocalist Glenn Tilbrook about why he’s always loved vinyl, the art of sequencing, and how two of Squeeze’s most classic songs came together. . .
