Far from the sad, wobbly finale you might be expecting, these last to be released Johnny Cash recordings are uplifting, inspirational and resolutely purposeful thanks to both Cash’s searing artistry and the sensitivity of the A&R work.

Three years before he passed away in 1983 at age 60 from lung cancer, a somewhat diminished Johnny Hartman entered Ben Rizzi's Master Sound Productions in the small Long Island 'burb of Franklin Square and recorded this album for the small Bee Hive label. It would be his next to final appearance on record, and one that earned him a "Best Male Jazz Vocalist" Grammy Nomination.

This coming Tuesday evening August 20th 5:30PM-9PM please join me at New York City's Innovative Audio for an evening of vinyl record spinning on a fine audio system. I'm bringing some great records from my collection including multiple versions of the same recording so guests can hear what good and bad mastering can do to sound quality and musical satisfaction.
