SAT presents the new XD1 Record Player System in the U.S. at an exclusive event on June 1st from 12pm-6pm at The Audio Salon in Santa Monica, CA. SAT's designer and founder, Marc Gomez, will go through the design and development of his latest CF1 and LM series of arms and explain the differences between them and the original SAT Pickup Arm. Gomez will also show the technical details about the XD1, explaining how a compact and minimalistic design can produce such a grand and effortless sound.

Acrylic and I don't get along well in the turntable/tonearm world so I remain skeptical about the sonic performance of this $1575 Scheu Cantus acrylic tonearm but of course I reserve judgement until I get to hear it.

Schiit Audio today announced a pulley update for the SOL turntable that will produce correct speeds on the SOL turntable. The new pulley is currently being prototyped and will go into production within the next 3-4 weeks, after which all current SOL owners will receive one in the mail free of charge.

A second NuWave Phono Converter sample arrived the other day and after swapping the two back and forth a few things became sonically obvious. One is that the second sample was not as hard, bright and mechanical-sounding as the first one. And the other was that like the first sample, the second NuWave's lower midrange and bass were less than fully fleshed out.
