New York D.J. Murray Kaufman, a/k/a "Murray the K", a/k/a "The Fifth Beatle" in the early 1960s presented raucous all-star rock and soul shows at Brooklyn's fabulous Fox Theater. After a 56 year absence Murray's TV special "It's What's Happening Baby" returns to the airwaves in a newly restored from the original video and audiotape presentation, featuring Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick, The Miracles, Herman's Hermits, The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, The Temptations, Johnny Rivers and Marvin Gaye, among others!

Marshall Blonstein, owner/founder of both the DCC Compact Classics and Audio Fidelity labels and a record industry veteran revealed in a recent email that he was retiring and closing down the Audio Fidelity label (the photo L-R is of Blonstein, AnalogPlanet editor Michael Fremer and legendary mastering engineer Kevin Gray taken during the TRON double LP mastering sessions).

Harry Pearson The Absolute Sound's founder and the originator of the term "high end audio" and arguably the industry itself, died November 4th, 2014 at his home in Sea Cliff, NY. He was 77. The cause of death has yet to be determined but most likely he suffered either a stroke or a heart attack. Pearson was in frail health following a series of heart problems and a broken hip suffered after a fall.

—Sardinia, Italy, July 28th: Plymouth, Minnesota-based Audio Research introduced to its dealers and distributors at WOM (World of McIntosh) Convention its new lower priced Foundation line of tube electronics. The three pieces were on static display at the Munich High End Show, but here they played in a system with a pair of Sonus Faber Il Cremonese speakers.

STOW, OH, October 20, 2020 -- Audio-Technica today announced the introduction of its AT-PEQ30 MM/MC phono preamp. The new phono preamp provides either 35dB (MM) or 59dB (MC) fixed gain, and 47kOhm (MM) and 120 ohm (MC) loading.

The Home Tech Network has been purchased from TEN by AVTech Media Ltd (UK) it was announced today in a deal that's been in the works for some time. That means the Home Tech Network's six brands, Stereophile, Sound & Vision, Shutterbug, AnalogPlanet, Audiostream, and Innerfidelity will join with AVTech Media's Hi-Fi News, Hi-Fi Choice, Home Cinema Choice and the Hi-Fi Show Live.

Monday, March 9, 2020 AXPONA announced just now that it's moved the Western hemisphere's largest show from this coming April to August 7-9 at Chicago's Renaissance Schaumberg Hotel and Convention Center.
