At last fall's WAX Event at the Capitol Tower I met the owner of Dorado Music Packaging, a company that fabricates among other printed packaging, record jackets and books about music and vinyl.
Mike Hobson, one of the pioneers of the "vinyl resurgence" exited the reissue business a few years ago, selling Classic Records to Analogue Productions/Acoustic Sounds, Quality Record Pressings mogul Chad Kassem.
On Sunday, March 22nd, VPI Industries hosted a meeting of the New Jersey Audiophile Society at its new showroom, which was formerly the home of VPI's founder Harry Weisfeld.

Dave sent this note and asked for people to share with others who considered Wally a friend. If any AnalogPlanet readers have gotten any good vinyl playback information from me, most of it originated with Wally, so consider him a friend. Therefore here's Dave's note:

On Thursday morning (February 6), the Banning, CA building housing Apollo/Transco Masters’ factory and storage space burned. By far the biggest of the world’s two lacquer master disc manufacturers, most of the world’s vinyl mastering facilities (especially smaller ones) relied upon Apollo/Transco blanks, as well as their cutting styli for Westrex cutting heads. Ruled a total loss, 82 firefighters battled the blaze’s toxic fumes; thankfully, there were no injuries (Banning is located in the Southern California desert, approximately 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles).

Acoustic Sounds just announced the acquisition and re-introduction of Disc Doctor record cleaning products (cleaning fluids, applicator brushes, etc.), long considered by both consumers and professionals to be among the finest available.
Leveraging its catalog of licensed title and self-produced SACDs, Acoustic Sounds has launched a high resolution digital download site that will allow customers to download their choice of DSD (Super Audio CD), FLAC files at 176/24, 88/24 or ALAC files at 88/24 bit resolution.
