For those of you who have a penchant for listening to visceral, tall-in-the-saddle sonic tales recounting the finer points of dental floss farming, mindless video drones, and poncho-wearing lotharios, then we have an important release announcement for you. Namely, Frank Zappa’s seminal September 1973 LP Over-Nite Sensation is getting a proper 50th anniversary deluxe reissue treatment via a pair of vinyl options — a 180g 45rpm 2LP set, and a limited-edition splatter-vinyl 180g 3LP edition — both via Zappa Records/UMe on November 3. Read on to see all the mennil-toss flykune-approved ONS 50 pressing stats and sugar-plum tracks accordingly. . .

That new record you just unboxed probably came shrink-wrapped or in a perforated sealed bag. Maybe it has a sticker or two on it or it's a numbered limited edition. Watch how all of this happens in this just produced video shot at Furnace Manufacturing with founder Eric Astor. And then go to Furnace's brand new, soon to be operational vinyl pressing plant that will also incorporate the packaging facility, which has outgrown its current location. Furnace began in the 1990s as a production and packaging agent for indie and major labels—perhaps you’re unsure about what that exactly means. After watching the video you will—and perhaps you'll come to appreciate an LP production cost you've not before considered.

All I need is a cinema show — that, and the radio. Okay, so we slightly butchered the opening lyrics to “Turn It On Again” there, but if you’re a Genesis acolyte and you know (what I like), then you know what we mean. The reason for the above line adjustment is that Genesis is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their October 1999 Turn It On Again: The Hits compilation by way of two separate vinyl editions via Atlantic/Rhino on May 3, 2024 — marking the 18-song career-spanning collection’s vinyl debut. Read on to see which tracks are on it, and which specific cut is making its own LP debut. . .
