Munich 2025

While we look forward to sharing all the deep-dive show reports from our fellow editors who were at High End Munich 2025 on AP in the coming days/weeks, we do have some cool gear seen at the big show to report on in the here and now — starting with the Takumi TT Level 2.1DC turntable.

It’s always nice to see what Takumi and product guru Rik Stoet have created. (As some of you may recall, we reported on Takumi’s TT Level 3.1 turntable here on AP back in May 2023 after seeing it in Munich that year.)

This time around, and as seen on display at Munich 2025 in Hall 4, S12, the new Takumi 2.1DC is a turntable that sports a CNC-machined acrylic chassis, which is said to have been selected for its vibration-dampening qualities and acoustic neutrality. This foundation is purported to provide a stable and silent playback environment, reducing the influence of external resonances.

The Level 2.1DC table’s DC motor is belt-driven and housed in a damped enclosure, physically separated from the main plinth to isolate vibrations. Speed accuracy is maintained using a hall sensor and magnetic ring, enabling real-time speed monitoring. An external SpeedPod controller allows for switching between 33.33rpm and 45rpm playback, with ultra-fine 0.01rpm adjustments.

The Takumi 2.1DC table offers a mechanically silent platter system, with a solid aluminium subplatter, ceramic axle, and brass bearing on hand to provide smooth, friction-free rotation. The acrylic platter interfaces directly with the record surface — sans mat — to ensure, quote, “clear transients and reduced noise between musical passages.”

The lightweight titanium tonearm fitted to the Takumi 2.1DC boasts a fixed headshell to reduce connection losses. Full cardanic bearings offer low-friction movement, and the arm includes adjustability for VTA, azimuth, anti-skating, and lift height, making it compatible with a wide range of cartridges — though an AT3600L cartridge is included.

A shielded 120cm phono cable is integrated, while three adjustable feet with internal damping and a built-in bubble level for accurate setup are also provided.

Finally, the SRP for the Takumi TT Level 2.1 DC turntable — including the SpeedPod — is €1,695.
