Technics SL-1200M7B Special Edition Lamborghini Turntable
High End Munich 2024 is in full swing, and we’re all over it. Today, we’re taking a look at a stunningly cool collaboration between Technics and Lamborghini that’s resulted in the SL-1200M7B limited edition turntable.
The SL-1200M7B is based on the SL-1200MK7 and SL-1210MK7 DJ models from the Technics SL1200 turntable series. Technics confirms that more than 3.5 million units from this series have been sold to date.
Technics also notes that this historical collaboration with Lamborghini was born from “the commonalities between the two internationally renowned brands’ concepts and sound-making initiatives.” Technics then adds the kicker, further reinforcing the idea that “sound is another characteristic element of the two brands,” citing the classic engine sounds of Automobili Lamborghini and the “rich audio experience” of Technics gear as the mutual evidence.
The functions of the Technics SL-1200M7B are based on the SL-1200MK7 and SL-1210MK7 models, while the design is influenced by the Lamborghini’s iconic Y-shape. The three colors used in the design are inspired by three iconic Lamborghini colors: Arancio Apodis, Verde Shock, and Giallo Athon. (In case you’re not a gearhead, those color designations translate to orange, green, and yellow.)
Technics SL-1200M7B customers will be treated to an exclusive gift in the form of an included vinyl record featuring the powerful engine and driving sounds of six flagship Lamborghini V12 models, recorded especially for this purpose. The vinyl itself is a picture disc featuring an image of a tire from Lamborghini’s latest model, the Revuelto. SL-1200M7B owners can listen to the engine sounds as the tire spins atop the turntable. Said recorded engine sounds include those of the 400GT 2+2, Miura SV, 25th Anniversary Countach, Diablo 6.0 SE, Murcielago LP 640, and the aforementioned Revuelto.
Features of the Technics SL-1200M7B table include a coreless direct-drive motor, highly sensitive “robust” tonearm, two-layer structure platter with “improved” vibration-damping performance, high-rigidity cabinet and high damping insulator, starting torque/brake speed adjustment, pitch control, reverse play for “DJ playing styles,” and a stylus illuminator featuring a high-brightness and “long-life” LED.
SL-1200M7B table owners will also receive a slipmat featuring the Lamborghini logo and two stickers — one with a Lamborghini logo, the other with a Technics logo.
Finally, Technics confirms that their SL-1200M7B Special Edition Lamborghini turntable will become available in the U.S. beginning in July 2024. The SRP is $1,599.
