Tiny Rolling Stones Singles Roll Out for Record Store Day on April 18

On Record Store Day — April 18, 2026 — Crosley will release a Rolling Stones-themed version of its RSD3 Mini Turntable, which plays 3in records made in Japan. See what to expect from this cool little package in my narrative YouTube clip, which is posted on our official YouTube channel — or watch it right here, right now, below.
Included in the box are miniature versions of six classic 1960s Rolling Stones singles: “Get Off of My Cloud” (1965), “Play With Fire” (1965), “Heart of Stone” (1964), “Mother’s Little Helper” (1966), “Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?” (1966), and “Honky Tonk Women” (1969). It’s an RSD Exclusive that’s capped at 2,500 copies. (Footnote 1)
Originally released on Decca/London, these Stones recordings are now owned by ABKCO Music & Records Inc., who partnered with Crosley for this special RSD release.
The Crosley RSD3 is based on the Bandai 8-ban minirecord that was released in Japan in 2004. (“8,” presumably, is the number of centimeters.) The following year, Jack White discovered the little players, and he tried to buy up the remaining inventory. White managed to procure 400 machines, rebranded them as the “Triple Inchophone,” and released a tiny box set of White Stripes singles that included “Seven Nation Army” in mono. (The 3in Stones singles are mono, too.)
Some background now. Back in 2019, the RSD folks first collaborated with Crosley and the Japanese plant that made the 8-ban machine to produce the RSD3: an upgraded player with a real moving magnet (MM) cartridge — specifically, an Audio-Technica AT6300 — an onboard Bluetooth transmitter, a built-in speaker, and a ⅛-inch headphone jack. It’s said to sound better than the original 8-ban, though the revived version was (and continues to be) manufactured in China. The records are still made in Japan, at the Toyokasei plant. The format is strictly mono, and it runs at 33⅓. Neumann lathes are said to have been used to cut the 3in lacquers.
The little records’ inner diameter is so small that my Technics SL-1200 Series turntable can’t play them all the way through before the arm hits its end-stop. Luckily, I found this out while using a cheap, rugged cartridge!
This 2026 RSD release follows the Beatles-themed RSD3 for RSD 2024 that had four accompanying Beatles singles (“I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Till There Was You,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and “She Loves You”). Last year’s RSD3 release was a four-record box from punk and alternative label Hopeless Records: “So Wrong It’s Right” by All Time Low; “Can’t Kick Up the Roots” by Neck Deep; “Skinny Dipping” by Stand Atlantic; and “Sister Cities” by The Wonder Years.

Footnote 1: AP editor Mike Mettler adds: In addition to the Crosley RSD3 Stones release, the six 3in singles in that package will also be available individually as RSD Exclusives (1,500 copies apiece). The Rolling Stones are also releasing Big Hits (HIGH TIDE & GREEN GRASS) – Japanese Edition as a 180g 1LP RSD Exclusive (3,500 copies, via import).
