"Who Can I Be Now?" 13 LP David Bowie Box Set Coming in September

The second David Bowie box set centered around his so-called "American Period" ships in September.

It includes remastered editions of Diamond Dogs, David Live (the original 2 LP mix and the 2005 mix on 3 LPs), Young Americans, Station to Station (original mix and Harry Maslin 2010 mix), Live Nassau Coliseum '76 (2 LPs), (single versions and non-album B-sides re-mastered) and The Gouster a previously unreleased on LP early version of Young Americans.

The box includes an eight four page hard covered book, similar to the one included with the first Bowie Box set. Who mastered and from what sources and who pressed? Don't yet know.

because if I have visited the websites of major labels in the past year or two, it has been in response to reading an album review here.

Should I assume that that the tape masters were converted to digital ? Hopefully at high rez.

The recent lp reissue of the Bowie best of included songs from the digitally sourced 5 years and 5 songs from this forthcoming box set.

Diamond Dogs, Rebel, Young Americans, Fame and Golden Years all sound closed in. Tonally balanced but veiled, as if a wet blanket were spread over it. Definitely digital source

Who signs off on this stuff?

Shame

Pick up an original analog copy

Michael, I know the Stones Mono box is in your hands but are you going to give us a take on the sound of this box? Thx

I bought this and I'm Thinking about returning it. I've listened to Diamond Dog, Glouster, the Rarity LP and Young Americans. All Sound quite flat to me.wet blanket is right. I actually think the Ryko sounds better. I have the big box of Station to Station that was all Analogue chain from original tapes and it's amazing/ fantastic. Why can't all these sound that good? Disappointed

So I ordered it on an impulse. I could not resist the idea of the previously unreleased "Gouster". It's coming tomorrow night and I can't wait. I know that, ideally, it would be AAA but for something like this it's just not available in another format and I love the idea of it being on vinyl.

If anyone has serious reservations and can give me info on how I can purchase Gouster alone on vinyl or something else altogether, please let me know.

I'm thinking about returning the LPS for the CDS... seriously. I'm listen to this on TIDAL and it should better to me than the LPS... :/
