World Circuit Records Classic Specialist In All Styles  By Orchestra Baobab Gets 50th Anniversary First Vinyl Release

Senegalese group Orchestra Baobab's 2002 comeback album Specialist In All Styles makes its vinyl debut 18 years after its original release and 50 years after the group's founding. The album was the group's first release since 1982's Pirates Choice said to be a "holy grail" recording for fans of African music.

The album was produced by World Circuit's Nick Gold with Youssou N'Dour and recorded at London's Livingston Studios. While Gold's 1997 production with Ry Cooder of Buena Vista Social Club recorded in Havana was issued on vinyl and went on to become an international phenom, this album never had a vinyl release. Until now.

The album was recorded to 1/2" analog tape but the producers have chosen to issue this new vinyl release from a 96/24 transfer of the original tape with lacquers cut by Guy Davie at Electric Mastering (where The Electric Recording Company releases are mastered) and pressed at GZ Media in the Czech Republic.

Will review this album of Afro-Latin world music when the vinyl arrives.

since this is the first vinyl release, i wonder if it's from digital because no one ever assembled an analog cutting master. very common for albums of this era...
