Bobby Rush Live at "Blues at the Crossroads", Salina, Kansas 2018

This performance by 85 year old Blues legend Bobby Rush is the first in a series of videos shot at this year's "Blues at the Crossroads Blues festival at Blue Heaven Studios in Salina, Kansas. Blue Heaven Studios and the festival are part of Acoustic Sounds' Chad Kassem's music empire.

Mr. Rush's performance begins with a fascinating background oral history that includes the origins of the Vee Jay Record Label. Then begins the music and "Chitlin Circuit" entertainment that will eventually vanish from the live scene, but it's here now!

Rush's latest album, "Porcupine Meat" released by Rounder in 2016 won a 2017 Grammy for "Best Traditional Blues Album".

This year's is the 21st annual festival held at the de-sanctified church a short distance from Acoustic Sounds headquarters and the across the street Quality Record Pressing plant.

Enjoy the performance. More to come.

The sound here is surprisingly good, though recorded using a single Audio Technica "shotgun" microphone. You will hear the former church's miraculous acoustics.
