Mais oui! Fidelity Imports and Playback Distribution have just announced the formation of True North Distribution, a new Canadian joint venture dedicated to importing and distributing (in their words) “exceptional” high-fidelity audio products across Canada.

True North Distribution will import and distribute brands that are said to, quote, “reflect a deep respect for how things are made — products shaped by skilled hands, thoughtful engineering, and a legacy of craftsmanship.” By partnering with specialized retailers across the country, True North Distribution intends to connect Canadian listeners with audio components that celebrate both performance and artistry. As of this posting, True North are distributing gear from companies such as Esoteric, Perlisten, PMC, Velodyne, Vienna Acoustics, and Wilson Benesch.

In a press statement, Steve Jain of Fidelity Imports (seen above) explained how this partnership came to be. “For me, this all started with moments — sitting with friends, putting on a record, and feeling completely transported,” Jain noted. “Those experiences stay with you, and they’re shaped by the care and craftsmanship behind the equipment as much as the music itself. True North Distribution is about sharing those moments — bringing products and stories to Canada that help people fall in love with music all over again.”

“Building something sustainable and reliable for our partners has been just as important as the passion behind it,” added Matt Hegt (above), also of Fidelity Imports. “With True North Distribution, we’ve created a structure that retailers can depend on — thoughtful brand selection, strong logistics, and the infrastructure needed to support long-term growth in the Canadian market.”

“What stood out to me from the beginning was the alignment in values,” said Rob Standley (above), of Playback Distribution. “There’s a clear through-line between engineering integrity, manufacturing discipline, and the listening experience itself. True North Distribution allows us to bring together brands that demonstrate that connection in a meaningful and measurable way.”

The partnership between Fidelity Imports and Playback Distribution combines years of experience in high-end audio distribution, dealer relationships, and brand development. Together, the companies will be supporting retailers with (again, in their words) “curated product lines, attentive service, and a shared commitment to excellence in music reproduction.”

As for True North Distribution, operations have already commenced, with a “growing portfolio” of premium audio brands (a number of which were noted at the top of this story) and a nationwide network of authorized dealers.
