IMPEX To Release "Tony Bennett/Dave Brubeck The White House Sessions Live 1962"

IMPEX Records has just announced The White House Sessions, Live 1962 a historic collaboration between Tony Bennett and Dave Brubeck and his quartet.

This was an outdoor concert on The Washington Mall attended by President John F. Kennedy. Outdoor concerts can often produce problematic recordings but if IMPEX has chosen to issue this double set complete with deluxe gatefold packaging, we're betting on good sonics courtesy Columbia Records' crack remote recording team.

Let's hope Sony will supply the MASTER TAPES for this effort, and not a copy, analog or other.

I bought this, being a big Brubeck fan, in CD. I'm temped to use it as a drink coaster. I'm going to have to see a review on this one before I buy it.

I was expecting it to be on par with the CD version Time Out (which I now listen to exclusively in vinyl) or Paper Moon. Nope.

It sounds like a very good, well mixed STEREO live album with the barest minimum of crowd ambience. I can't imagine anyone being unhappy with the SQ, honestly!

But not sure how including a gatefold will ensure good sound quality?

But in case you're not, he's speculating that IMPEX wouldn't go to the trouble and expense of producing a gatefold cover unless the sonics were worth the effort.

As soon as Mikey gives the actual release a positive review, I'm all over it.
