Muarah MT-3 Turntable and MY-1/9 Tonearm

Polish turntable and tube amp manufacturer Muarah launched their new MT-3 turntable and MY-1/9 tonearm at the recent, 25th edition of the Audio Video Show in Warsaw, so we figured they were both well worth a respective closer look.

Let’s get to the turntable first. The MT-3 ’table sports a plinth constructed from a thick MDF board, and it is finished in satin black. The 35mm, 2.5kg platter is black acrylic glass (PMMA).

The company says the MT-3 ’table is compatible with tonearms that have an effective length of 9in. The MT-3 comes standard with Muarah’s own, all-new MY-1/9 tonearm, which, as noted above, was also introduced at the Warsaw show. The MY-1/9 follows a “classic Cardan arrangement” using miniature ball bearings, and it has an effective mass of 15g. Prior to this introduction, Muarah had previously sourced European and Japanese manufacturers for their tonearm offerings, and the MY-1/9 is their first one to be manufactured in Poland.

Other features of the MT-3 turntable include a Teflon bearing with magnetic suspension, a leveling system said to take “not more than 30 seconds without using special tools,” 33 1/3 and 45rpm playback options, a start/stop touch sensor, auto stop after 50 minutes of operation, and a hybrid mat integrated with the platter that’s said to be “reminiscent” of how it appears on the company’s earlier MT-2 SE turntable.

The Muarah MT-3 turntable has an SRP of €3,535, or $2,990 at its U.S. retailer. The Muarah MY-1/9 tonearm — which, as you’ll recall, comes standard with the MT-3 — has a standalone SRP of €1,968, though the U.S. price has yet to be established as of this posting.
