Vertere SOLO Moving Coil Cartridge

There’s nothing wrong with flying solo — or, in the case of the noted British manufacturer Vertere, make that an all-caps SOLO flight. What we mean by that is, Vertere have just announced their SOLO moving coil (MC) cartridge, which the company says is intended to bring out the best in mono LP playback.

More specifically, the SOLO cart is said to have been designed to, quote, “reproduce the lateral groove information found in mono records.”

The SOLO MC cart is fitted with a precision-ground Shibata III nude diamond stylus that is said to “maximize signal integrity and dynamic performance.” The SOLO also boasts a telescopic aluminium alloy cantilever with a four-point fixing system that’s projected to improve mechanical stability and control vibration.

Other features of the SOLO cart include a low-mass MC generator and a samarium-cobalt magnet system, along with Vertere’s tri-point headshell mounting and quad-point generator support structure.

Specs for the Vertere SOLO MC cart include an output of 0.4mV, frequency response of 10Hz to 45kHz, recommended tracking force of 2.15g (within a range of 2g to 2.4g), recommended input load of 850Ω (0pf) to 1kΩ (400pF max), coil resistance as 24Ω (DC single coil), dynamic compliance of 8.0 x 10⁶cm/dyne (at 100Hz), mounting to stylus as ≈8.3mm; headshell to stylus as ≈17.0mm; and a weight of 11.4g.

Finally, the SRP for the Vertere SOLO MC cartridge is £2,850, and its availability commences here in the month of March.
