At High End Munich 2017 in one of the "pods" on the main floor of the MOC convention center, AnalogPlanet editor Michael Fremer encountered cartridge builder Hyun Lee. Berlin based Lee is a classically trained guitarist/teacher/artisan who prefers vinyl records and decided to design and build his own.

Many new 'tables were introduced at High End Munich including The all in one The + Record Player, the result of an international design team, that features a Pro-Ject supplied 'table atop a built in sound system carefully isolated from the 'table, the idler wheel drive Blackstone from Italy shown in static display at previous shows, a new compact Thales TTT turntable with tangential tracking pivoted arm for around $9000, and the intriguing looking Cantano.

Day one at High End Munich 2017 was of course a busy day of press conferences and room visits, encounters with old friends and the usual combination of being dazzled by what's new and shaking off jet-lag.

TechDas called an 11:00 A.M. press conference to introduce on the Air Force One Premium turntable the massive motor system that will be part of the Air Force Zero—an upcoming "statement" turntable projected to cost up to $300,000 and designer Hideaki Nishikawa's final turntable project.
