Keith Monks Audio Works Launches New, Lower Priced Discovery One Record Cleaning Machine
Keith Monks Audio Works debuted at RMAF 2013 the Discovery One record cleaning machine, based upon a Chinese-made "replica" of a Technics SL-1200 turntable. Using the existing turntable and retrofitting the arm with a vacuum tip allowed the company to save money and pass the savings on to customers.
The Discovery One is available in two versions. The basic $2495 manual version requires you to apply fluid to the record and brush manually before beginning the vacuum process. The deluxe $2995 version features a fluid reservoir and pump that delivers fluid through the brush, which is identical to what's used on the more expensive Monks machine. The manual version can be retro-fitted with the pump and brush unit for around $750.
