This is what a bearing ends up looking like if it's run without oil (assuming it requires oil—not all bearings do). It's not pretty. The owner (who shall remain nameless) kept breaking and replacing the belt until a manufacturer's representative visited and found the problem. Just thought you'd like to see what happens.
